Hey you. Yes, you right there. The mom reading this blog. Can we be honest for a sec?

It’s easy to drown in the sea of motherhood.

Motherhood is beautiful, it’s fascinating, it’s exhilarating. It’s also awful. Every mom, despite her telling you otherwise, has once lost herself to the sea of motherhood. I’ve been lost, I’ve gone into the sea four times. I stopped doing anything for me but, lived only for everyone else. Each time I’ve lost myself, I’ve had to dig further and further to find ‘me’again. Who am I? Did I grow through what I went through? Do I even remember who I am?

Decide today to live 100% authentically. If you are lost at sea, exclaim it! I am lost, but I will find myself. Do you hear the expecatations from society resounding in your head? Screw the expectatinos, create your own! Where are you headed? Decide. Do you only want to be a mother? Decide. What do you want out of your life? Decide!

I want to be a blogger, so here I am. I am fighting my way out of the sea. I’m expected to want to be home 24/7. I am screwing those expectations and I am a working mom, proud of it! I am headed to becoming my authentic self. What I truly want and need to be. More importantly, where I want to be.

Becoming your authentic self, fighting your way out of the waters does not happen over night. It may not even happen in a year. You must focus on the progress. Today, one hour. Tomorrow, one day. One thing at a time. You know the saying, “Rome was not built in a day”, well neither were you. You took nine months (give or take) to make a child or two. You gave up all of you, so when recreating yourself, when finding yourself allow yourself time.

When you aren’t sure of you’re progress, when you’re feeling blue. Look back. Remind yourself of where you’ve been, where you’ve come from. Are you a step ahead of where you were? An inch closer to where you’re going?

Your progress is not measured in distance, or by the expectations of others. Instead, your progress is measured by your own willingness to move forward until you are authentically you.

Xo, Sabrina.
