Decide.

Hey you. Yes, you right there. The mom reading this blog. Can we be honest for a sec?

It’s easy to drown in the sea of motherhood.

Motherhood is beautiful, it’s fascinating, it’s exhilarating. It’s also awful. Every mom, despite her telling you otherwise, has once lost herself to the sea of motherhood. I’ve been lost, I’ve gone into the sea four times. I stopped doing anything for me but, lived only for everyone else. Each time I’ve lost myself, I’ve had to dig further and further to find ‘me’again. Who am I? Did I grow through what I went through? Do I even remember who I am?

Decide.

Decide today to live 100% authentically. If you are lost at sea, exclaim it! I am lost, but I will find myself. Do you hear the expecatations from society resounding in your head? Screw the expectatinos, create your own! Where are you headed? Decide. Do you only want to be a mother? Decide. What do you want out of your life? Decide!

I want to be a blogger, so here I am. I am fighting my way out of the sea. I’m expected to want to be home 24/7. I am screwing those expectations and I am a working mom, proud of it! I am headed to becoming my authentic self. What I truly want and need to be. More importantly, where I want to be.

Progress.

Becoming your authentic self, fighting your way out of the waters does not happen over night. It may not even happen in a year. You must focus on the progress. Today, one hour. Tomorrow, one day. One thing at a time. You know the saying, “Rome was not built in a day”, well neither were you. You took nine months (give or take) to make a child or two. You gave up all of you, so when recreating yourself, when finding yourself allow yourself time.

When you aren’t sure of you’re progress, when you’re feeling blue. Look back. Remind yourself of where you’ve been, where you’ve come from. Are you a step ahead of where you were? An inch closer to where you’re going?

Your progress is not measured in distance, or by the expectations of others. Instead, your progress is measured by your own willingness to move forward until you are authentically you.

All The Activities!

Ah, the age of fun. The boys are finally at the age where they’re becoming intereseted in activities. Whether that be tummy time, sit-me-up seats, swings or more. I thought I’d give a review on our favorite activities for our current age. By the way, we’re four months now, the time truly flies when you’re having fun!

Evenflo Splash Mega Exersaucer

What is it?

An exersaucer is an activity seat that provides multiple options for baby to explore. This specific seat rotates 360° so baby can reach all the toys, has springs so baby can jump and the base is rounded so baby can move even more! It’s really a great way for baby to self-entertain and develop fine motor skills while playing with the multiple toys.

Why do we love it?

I personally love this seat for two reasons. First, it’s hands free! I can put Dax or Emrick in it (with support) and they’re able to look at the bright colors and reach for toys. The second reason I love this seat is due to the adaptability. The seat grows and adapts to your growing baby. Starting from four months up till the baby outgrows the chair. It’s really a game changer when we consider costs of all the gear babies acquire of their first year of life.

Where can I buy it?

Evenflo actually discontinued this specific style, but you can still find the mega-saucer in many stores and on Amazon under a different name. The seat is generally $50-90.

Skip Hop Tree Top Friends Play Mat

What is it?

Activity mats are a wonderful thing! Activity mats are usually soft, plush mats with arches that include small toys and some times a tummy time pillow. The one we have is actually a called “Vibrant Village” it has lights in the arches, is black and white and has pops of color. Activity mats are a great way to encourage rolling, scooting and fine motor skills such as kicking and head control.

Why do we love it?

Need a place to “park” a baby, an activity mat is a great place! I generally have the boys on the mat first thing in the morning, first thing in the afternoon and sometimes in the evening. I always place Dax’s feet near the arches, he is a big kicker and when he gets going the toys hanging really move. In turn, this catches his attention and makes him a happy camper. Additionally, if Emrick is laying with him it’s a two for one deal!

Where can I buy it?

Activity mats vary in pricing based on sizes and features. You can buy them on Amazon, at Wal-mart and so many more places!

Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat

What is it?

Sit me up seats are fairly new to me. When my last baby girl was born five years ago, they were non-existent. Now a days, these seats are a supportive seat meant to help baby learn to sit up. It’s a great tool and fun for baby.

Why do we love it?

This is another “parking” station for baby. Need your hands free? Set baby up and while baby gets used to his new views, you’ll be able to wash the dishes. If you get the deluxe version, this also doubles as a great small high chair.

Where can I buy it?

Sit-Me-Up seats are available in a variety of brands and styles from Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target and more!

Fisher Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker

What is it?

The Infant-to-Toddler Rocker is exactly as it sounds, a rocking chair that can be used from wee little newborns up to a 40-lb toddler. Let’s be honest, my 5 year old can still fit in it! the rocker has various uses and comes with a small toy bar to entertain.

Why do we love it?

This is a mega-rocker! Not only do you have the option to vibrate baby, the rocker comes with a kick stand to make it stationary. Got twins? This is a great way to feed both at the same time! Additionally, if you have bouncing baby boys like us, you’ll find the babies are able to rock themselves, shaking the toy bar and makes it super fun!

Where can I buy it?

As with most things, Amazon, Wal-mart and Target all have their own versions and styles of these chairs.

I certainly hope this helps you decide what activity centers to buy for your little babes!

Raising Boy’s.

Before our boys were born, I was blessed with three beautiful baby girls. Each girl presented their own challenges, but each provided a unique love. Andi brought me perseverance. Bree brought me growth. Caidence brought me self-love. Each girl made my life better, I progressed forward as a new parent and a growing person.

I never considered what raising boys would bring me. I didn’t ever think I’d have a son, let alone two sons. So, when the boys were born I wasn’t sure what I would feel. It was different when I had the boys, I’d never had a NICU baby, it was my first c-section, I wasn’t able to hold them right away. It was a disconnect. I couldn’t feel for someone I hadn’t even seen. Heck, I couldn’t even tell them apart in the pictures that were taken. I was promised I would be able to wheel by and see them on the way back to my room. I was wheeled on a bed, through a hallway. I got to see their incubators, I didn’t get to see them. It was an immediate disconnect from the two little men who had shared the womb. I worried if I would be able to love them. I wondered if they would even “know” me.

The disconnect didn’t last long. NICU was a magical place, full of amazing people who cared for my boys like their own. It was even harder when I had to leave each day, not knowing what they were doing or what was happening. I didn’t want to be a burden, so I would only call once a day. Once Dax came home, I was able to bond with him. It was a whole new love. When Emrick came home, it was undeniable. These boys were “different”.

There is nothing like the snuggle of your baby boy(s). There is nothing like the smiles. There is nothing like the boy(s) becoming a “mama’s boy”. He just loves his mama all that much. And maybe, maybe I’m crazy. Or maybe, maybe I yearned for a boy for so long that this love was always there.

Perhaps I’m not crazy. Perhaps you are a boy mom too, you’re reading this and feeling the same way. Raising boys is just… different.

5 Ideas To Spark Your Weight Loss Goals!

It’s the beginning of the year, the second month of the year in fact, have you fallen off the band wagon yet? Don’t worry, according to a study done by Strava shows that January 12th is the date majority of people quit their resolutions. In fact, the study goes on to show that 80% of people who make resolutions do not keep them.

How about we put that statistics aside and focus on your goals? Here are 5 ideas to spark your weight loss goals!

# 1 – Water, Water, Water.

I can repeat myself over and over and over again. Drink your water. Seriously. Drink at the very least 80 oz of water. I aim for at least half my body weight in ounces every day. Water is an essential part of weight loss. Water is an essential part of the human body functioning. PLEASE DRINK YOUR FREAKING WATER. Also, if you’re asking why you’re not losing weight, check your water intake.

# 2 – Just 2 lbs At A Time.

Have a large weight loss goal? My long-term goal is over 30 lbs. However, I know that if I focus on 30 lbs even the smallest little weight loss will still be discouraging. Instead, try focusing on just two lbs at a time. You’ll be thrilled for each 2 lbs you shed off!

# 3 – Meal Prep.

Again, like water, be prepared. You want to meal prep so those work/school/etc vending machines do not tempt you. Meal prep doesn’t have to be extravagant. Pick a protein, pick a veggie, pick a small but, complex carb. You can even do sheet pan meals to make it easier! You can find all of my meal prep ideas on my Pinterest account under Meal Prep Central.

# 4 – Document Your Journey.

This is important. No one deserves for you to document your journey more than YOU. Use your journey as personal development. Why are you on this journey? How did you get to be the weight you are now? Be incredibly honest, raw and real with yourself. Keep it to yourself, or share it to the world.

# 5 – Stick To It.

Let’s say you’re on a roll. You’ve lost weight, you feel great, so you have a treat. And that one treat turns into another, then another and again, another. It’s important for you to stick with it. Treat, not cheat! Yes, you deserve that sweet treat for being consistent. But, ensure that you don’t cheat. When you do cheat, you are only cheating yourself.

Each month is a new month to be successful. You’ve got to grab life by the horns and stick to your guns.

Stop Ending Your Sentences With “LOL”.

Ah, the age of Modern times. Want a habit to break in 2020? If so continue reading because I’m sure that you do this too.

We have to stop ending our sentences with LOL.

I was talking to a friend the other day. Explaining to her why I’m so frustrated, she’s a fellow HoH mom and she understood where I’m coming from. She listened to me vent. Here’s the thing… I ended almost every sentence with LOL. I wasn’t laughing. If you ask my husband, I was fuming. I was pissed, and rightfully so. How could an infant go from not hearing as normal, consistently, to passing magically as ‘normal’. I was not laughing, but at the end of each sentence I wrote LOL.

Why? Why did I do this? I was in the presence of someone who truly understood where I was coming from and why I felt the way I do.

We’re all unsure of ourselves.

That’s it. That’s the reason you end your sentences with LOL. We’re entirely unsure of ourselves, even when we’re in good company. We’re unsure of how that person will react. We’re unsure of how that person will view us after what we’ve said.

I knew my friend wouldn’t judge me for the things I was saying, I knew my cousin wouldn’t judge me when we talked about our twins. Yet, I was still unsure of myself, uneasy if you will.

Break The Habit.

It’s 2020 ya’ll. It’s time to cut the shit. Start being sure of yourself. Start saying what you want to say without the fear of reaction. Instead, embrace the reaction. If it’s negative, address it. If it’s positive, enjoy it. And if it needs to be talked about more, then do it! You live once, do you want to continuously live in fear of what others will think of you? Or, do you want to live authentically?

I choose to be authentic.
