Summer Is Coming!

With less than 60 days to summer my Facebook and Instagram feeds are full of weight loss ads, friends ‘shaping’ up and women worried about bikini season.

Let’s be real, I am not one of those people right now because of my current situation. However, I am concerned about maternity swimsuits for our upcoming lake trips. LOL!

With all of the hype about summer, I figured I’d share my best tips for starting (and keeping) a healthy lifestyle.

To create a habit of any kind, you truly need 21-30 days of doing. Whether this includes exercise, nutrition focus, or water intake, 21-30 solid days of doing this will create a lasting habit. This is why I recommend a program such as Autumn Calabrese’s 21 Day Fix. In just 21 days you create a habit of working out daily for 30 minutes, while altering your nutrition for your best results!

The second tip is water, water and oh yeah, more water! I reside in Arizona, where it’s a very dry heat and dehydration is an every day occurrence here. Did you know that lack of enough water causes headaches, fatigue and can lead to poor skin? Sure enough, lack of water can do more than just that! A quick calculation will you give you a desired amount of ounces per day. That calculation is your body weight, divided by two.

The final tip is all about my current favorite thing, NUTRITION! You can exercise all day long, you can drink an excess amount of water but, if you’re fueling your body with CRAP you won’t get awfully far. Additionally, eating the right food but the wrong portions can be harmful to your goals.

I hope this helps you kick off your summer goals and maintain them into fall! As always, I’m readily available to be YOUR coach! Even pregnant with twins, I’m still out here hustling to make sure my body is as prepared as possible.

Try It Tuesday – Shopping Aisles

Happy Tuesday!

As many of my followers know, I have been on a fitness journey for quite some time. I can attest that I have tried lots of different diets such as keto, paleo, NSNG, and so, so much more. Yet, with all of those diets, one thing remained consistent. Whatever I lost, I gained back almost immediately. Can you believe that? I can, and now I understand why! The diets I was trying were not sustainable for me. I was limiting and restricting myself so much, that every treat became a cheat for not just one meal but every meal.

I changed that consistent fluctuation of gain and loss with small color coded containers for portion. I changed my mindset by utilizing a program called Ultimate Portion Fix. Now, I had known about the containers previously and had been using them since Autumn Calabrese came out with them. Shes definitely my girl crush, FYI! But, this program was a game changer for me!

Ultimate Portion Fix isn’t just a one size fits all program. Oh no! This is a program that provides you the education you need in order to make smarter choice regarding portion control, grocery shopping and so much more! So, for this ‘try it’ Tuesday, I am encouraging you to give this a shot!

At the grocery store, do you often find yourself gravitating to the inner aisles? You too, huh, know that you are not alone! Food is quite literally, addictive! In an average year, we consume well over 100 lbs of sugar each year? This sugar is found almost every where, especially in processed foods, which you guessed it is in the inner aisles of our grocery stores!

Take a trip to the outer aisles of the grocery store, can you make a whole shopping trip out of these aisles? These include the produce, the meats, the dairy, frozen, and deli sections of your store. Can you plan a week’s worth of meals on these aisles alone?

I know I can, and I’d love to show you how too! If you’re interested in a FREE work shop on meal planning and grocery shopping, I run a free work shop every month! Let’s get together and focus your family on nutrition!

My Top 5 Goals To Complete Prior To Baby(s) Arrival.

When we announced our news of twins, we did so optimistically. Yes, it’s possible for a twin to ‘vanish’ and yes, we’re very early on in our pregnancy journey.

However, the top question we were asked is “what’s next?” We’ve put our heads together to come up with a list of goals we intend to complete prior to babies arrival.

#1 – Nursery, Nursery, Nursery.

The current room that we’d like to use as the Nursery is actually a den. A den full of boxes, a desk, filing cabinets, and so much more. Initially, I hesitated to do anything with this room. This room was my dads den/office, you could find him here playing solitaire on his computer prior to getting his iPad. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, you could find him with cookies and milk, other times you’d find him with his Diet Pepsi. He drank Diet Pepsi like it was water. And for those of you who don’t know, my dad passed away from complications due to falling off a roof by accident. So, it took me a while to be okay with changing this room. Grief aside, we have to make room for the littles, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Before we jump into questions, let me say that this room requires work. New flooring. New dry wall. Paint. I’m telling you, it needs work. I’m sure your first question is, do we have a theme? Honestly, I’m not sure. We have a general idea of what we want. Did I think I’d be cramming two children in here, no! Before choosing a theme I’d really like to have the work done first.

#2 – Vroom Room for All.

Right now, we have too many vehicles. Literally, we have 6 vehicles for no reason. We drive primarily two. Before we decided to give IVF a go, we bought a car to better our gas mileage. With the girls school being 12 miles one way, going twice a day to pick them up in the our Jeep was making a large impact in our financials. To assist in this, we bought a Ford Fusion. Which has been great on gas and it’s zippy! With the possibility of both babies making it past the first trimester, our goal is to trade in one or two of our vehicles to upgrade to a larger SUV. Before you ask, yes this was a stipulation to me doing IVF. I get to pick the vehicle and it has to be what “i” want..within reason of course. My current picks are a Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada, or a Toyota Sequoia – no, we refuse any and all minivans. Your input is gladly welcome on vehicles we should look in to!

#3 – Laundry/Gym Room

Luckily this goal is fairly easy. Our laundry room is so big it could easily be converted into half “gym”. By gym, I mean I just want mats on the floor, a tv hung, a mirror and perhaps a portable AC since it does get hot outside in the summer. This way, I won’t be waking the family in the mornings with my crazy workout schemes. Additionally, I can get my workout junk out of the living room. Sounds like a good plan right?! Right! Here’s to hoping Zoram actually gets to this eventually.

#4 – Pregnancy, the good, the bad and yes, the ugly too.

A big part of our blog is documenting our journey. This means the good, the bad and the ugly moments. Luckily for you, our readers, most of this documenting will be the pregnancy. With weekly updates and pictures,we promise, we plan on documenting it all! This includes the exercise and nutrition plans I’ll be using the entire time!

#5 – Expand and Build Our Coaching Business

I’ve had this eye opening experience with coaching. Which means I have these big goals, these incredible dreams and so, so much more. My goal is to help people recognize their own potential, help them complete their own goals. That’s what is important to me. What’s more important is helping others build their own businesses, supplement their own incomes and create a lifestyle for them! I am a certified Ultimate Portion Fix coach who’s following the program and absolutely loving it! Now can this be done before the babies are born? It’s a work in every day progress. Every day I’m reaching out to you, I’m giving you an opportunity to reach your own goals. I can help, let’s do this together.

This completes our list of 5 goals but trust us, we have more! Originally we started with 10! Thankfully, we recognize that having a huge list of goals in just 8-9 months probably isn’t the best idea. Especially being pregnant with twins! But, we’re doing it. We’re regular people just like you, making the most out of what we’re given.

Putting Aside Your Ego.

Can we talk about ego’s for a sec? Not your puffed out chest saying “I am a badass,” but the egos we utilize to go against what we know isn’t best for us.

Take me for example… When I first started with my weightless journey, I was completely on my own. I knew I could do it by myself, I wasn’t sharing my journey or even talking to anyone about it. I just did it. So when I failed, I failed miserably and beat myself up for it over, over and over again.

It wasn’t until I found a tribe. You’re right, a tribe sounds “clique-y”. The saying rings true, “Your vibe attracts your tribe.” Without the group of like-minded woman I was invited into, I wouldn’t be where I am today. In fact, I probably wouldn’t be writing this post.

Today, I am on bed rest, not because anything is necessarily wrong. But, because I let my ego get ahead of my bodies needs. I took two days away from exercise after transfer day, and then hopped right back into my routine. I shouldn’t have, but there I was crushing it! I felt great after every single workout, some of my friends and even my coach said “you’re glowing!”. But, what they didn’t know.. Is that I was threatening to waste close to fourteen thousand dollars because my ego said “keep going”. So, now, I put my ego aside. I put it away and I reached out for help.

When I reached out at home, I found my kids sticking to my nutrition plan bringing me healthy snacks in my colorful containers, water, breakfast, lunch and checking in on me so much (sometimes too much, lets be honest). I’m really proud of them for stepping up to help out their moms and keep their baby brother(s) away from mama’s ego.

When I reached out to my tribe, I found support regardless of not being able to work out with them. I found them cheering on my non-scale victories (NSV’s) and checking in with me personally to see if I needed anything. I have found a group who enjoys me for me, and lets me come out of my shell just a bit more than usual.

Long story, not short – Put aside your ego to do what’s best for you. Even when it’s not what you “want” to do, you have to learn to listen to your bodies needs!
